My Excuse

Working, traveling, school, cleaning, doctor, groceries, baby.....LIFE. That is my excuse for not blogging when I said I would. So, take it or leave it. Do you want a third option? How about you tell me if my excuse is a legitimate reason, or is that exactly what it is, an excuse.

How many times do we use "Life" as an excuse for not keeping in touch with some form of communitcation? Do we do it to ourselves?

For instance, I'm a wife, a mother of an 18 month old, a student (again), drama leader, and so on and so forth. So, what is my point? Everyone has several labels, right? Well, yes, but do we need to keep adding to our titles until we have no time to even remember to breath?

Don't read me wrong. I love my husband and daughter and everything else I listed. I chose to do those things and take my life in that direction, but that isn't the discussion. The discussion is that, as people, we find ourselves trying to fill up every waking moment with something, and don't even think about what it is doing to our relationships with our family and friends. I guess what I'm trying to say is, when is enough enough? And, are we using the excuse of "Life" as a crutch?

Remember when you were in school and they handed out those "Just Say No" ribbons. Those ribbons were pertaining to drugs, but we can revitalize that phrase when it comes to "Life." We can't avoid all the titles, but we also don't have to say yes everytime someone asks us to do something.

So, the next time someone asks you if you can do something, "Just Say No," and call up your sister, mom, brother, grandparent who "Life" has been keeping you from. And it wouldn't hurt to say an extra "I love you" to your spouse or kids either.
